An Arboreal ChipmunkMay 27, 2007

So why did this particular eastern chipmunk climb the tree?

Because there is a suitable source of corn nearby.

At first the eastern chipmunk is content with nibbling.

Then the fellow really gets into it.

Of course, sitting on your food while eating is the way to go.

The arboreal chipmunk ran up and down the tree several times, but once he jumped the seven feet from the corncob to the ground (and was perfectly okay).

Photo note: I used a Pentax *ist D, with the SMC-A* 200mm macro lens, under extreme low light.
