Two mute swans

While traveling, it is very convenient to take a photograph and then to paint in leisure at home while recalling happy memories.

Both photos were taken of mute swans in a river by Chester (England) which retains a fair number of Roman archaeological sites. The Chester Zoo is also nearby, one of the few "open" zoos which allow its animals a fair amount of ground to roam about a little.

Both paintings, which were done with a favorite palette knife, are acrylic on canvas, about 10 by 12 inches, though I had to cut a bit off the top and bottom of each to accommodate my scanner.
