Miscellaneous 2013 Three Butterfly Photos | Sept. 2, 2013 |
In returning to my website, I thought to present a variety of photos to represent summer days that I had missed. This miscellaneous page is for butterflies; the other two I've put up today are for damselflies and birds, each having three (colorful) photos.
The first photo is of the tiny least skipper, the smallest North American butterfly. I suppose one could call it about the size of half a fingernail. In life, it seems smaller.

The second photo is of a cabbage white, highlighted against a shady background. It's more drama than ID.
The third photo is also somewhat unusual: A male tiger swallowtail is flying over a butterfly bush. (Note: Only the male has bright yellow; the female is a black butterfly.)

And so today's photo travel from the smallest North American butterfly to the largest.
Photo note: I used a Pentax K20D, with a variety of lenses, for these photos during summer 2013. |
