Forsythia in Bloom

From the dull, dull days of late winter and early spring comes the glory of the forsythia. Yellow splashes of color brighten the landscape by each bush, as thousands and thousands of the miniature flowers come into bloom.

Highlighting a branch, somewhat apart from the main bush, shows the delicate flower shape, otherwise lost in the riot of color.

A macro of the flower itself displays an intriguing effect at the center of the flower: orange and green wheel spooks.

What a pity that the blooms are so brief!
