Dragonfly A Cherry-Faced Meadowhawk Sympetrium internum | July 17, 2011 |
| A mystery solved: The small and friendly orange dragonfly has matured into a deep red. That would make the dragonfly a cherry-faced meadowhawk (Sympetrium internum). |

The orange form of the meadowhawk could have been three different types, and it seems reasonable to me to conclude cherry-faced meadowhawk on the basis of that's what I'm encountering.
The next photo is more scenic than an ID photo, but I like it. |

Incidentally, the meadowhawk is perching on a milkweed leaf. (Thus far this summer, no monarch caterpillars on the milkweed, but I'm hoping.)
